Filmmakers' Camp in LA - Call for Application
Apply to spend a week in Los Angeles at the Research Film Studio’s Filmmakers’ Camp, happening Monday, Jan. 20-Sunday, Jan. 26. The travel grant will cover up to $1,000 of travel and food in Los Angeles. Lodging will be provided.
The film school’s theme is “The Film Archive.” Participants will learn about film archiving and how to conduct archival research of films in the UCLA Film and Television Archive. We will visit the Getty Museum, the Broad Museum, the Hammer Museum, the Fowler Museums at UCLA, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and the Griffith Observatory. The full program will be available for those awarded the merit grants.
Eligibility
Research Film Studio filmmakers who are currently are on the RFS Filmmaking Team and/or students who want to join now to work on the short documentary film entitled “hAiRCHITECTURE” (to be exhibited in the 2025 Architectural Biennale in Venice from May 10 to November 26) are eligible to apply.
To apply, students should submit a statement of how they would like to contribute the RFS team’s work on the short documentary film “hAiRCHITECTURE” to Kimberly Girman.

RFS Filmmakers' Camp with Gyula Gazdag (2023 Spring)
The UCHV Research Film Studio launched its first intensive RFS Filmmakers’ Camp in the spring of 2023. The week-long daily workshops took place in Princeton University from March 13 to March 20 in the spring break. Our guest professor, Gyula Gazdag prepared the Research Film Studio’s first collective student film, The Curious Adventures of William Monroe Trotter for production. The school closed on Monday, March 20th with a public conversation between Gyula Gazdag and Erika Kiss entitled Research and Filmmaking. All Princeton University undergraduates were eligible to apply.
